General
Canvas
Course management system that includes instructor-added resources, assignments, discussion forums, quizzes and integrations to external tools (like those listed below). You can request a new external tool on the Canvas Integration Request form.
GauchoCast/Panopto
GauchoCast is a streaming server that houses videos for courses. Panopto is a tool used to record presentations during or outside of class, and is installed on all general assignment classroom computers.

Eli Review
This online platform allows instructors to develop structured peer review assignments for small and large courses. Eli Review is integrated with UCSB Canvas. For more information about the Eli Review setup, please review External Tools: Eli Review on the UCSB Canvas Support and Knowledge Base.
iClicker and Poll Everywhere:
Student Response Systems allow instructors to conduct live polls to check understanding, engage learners, provide feedback and adapt instruction real-time.
Nectir
A backchannel chat room similar to Discord that is integrated into Canvas so students’ contact information and messages remain FERPA compliant. Nectir can be added to your Canvas course site and used in and out of class. Instructors and students can start chats, make sub-threads, and initiate direct messages to each other.
Course Assessment
Lockdown Browser
Students download and install the lockdown browser on their laptops to limit browsing to a specified window (e.g. Canvas quiz) during higher-stakes exams/quizzes.

Gradescope
Used for distributing, collecting, and grading in-person and remote homework assignments, quizzes and exams. Improves efficiency and equity by aggregating similar responses, re-using comments and leveraging AI-assisted grading.
Google Assignments
Allows seamless integration of Google Drive with Canvas for submitting and grading assignments so you don’t have to make a course Drive folder, add everyone to it, or manage sharing.
Test Scanning
The Test Scanning office in Kerr 1110 supports scoring of Gradescope assessments with high-speed scanners and an industrial paper cutter and is available by appointment only.
WeBWorK
An online math homework program in which you can assign problem sets to students. To request WeBWorK be added to your Canvas course, email the Math Systems Administrator at help@math.ucsb.edu and include which course you are teaching.
